Buck, doe, fawn, unknown — and what a "detection" is.

Detection

One animal found in one photo. A single photo can hold several detections if more than one deer is in frame.

Buck

An antlered deer. In velvet season, young or shed bucks can be hard to call — those may come through as unknown for you to confirm.

Doe

An antlerless adult deer.

Fawn

A young-of-the-year deer. Fawn counts feed your recruitment picture — how well the herd is reproducing.

Unknown

The AI saw a deer but could not confidently say buck or doe. These wait for you in Needs Review. A buck is never quietly downgraded to a doe — when in doubt it stays unknown.
